Alex Gidman to leave Gloucestershire Cricket
10 September 2014
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club announce that Alex Gidman will be leaving the Club at the end of the season to join Worcestershire CCC for 2015.
Chief Executive Will Brown said: “We would like to thank Alex for the huge amount he has contributed to Gloucestershire Cricket since making his debut for the Club back in 2001.
“We fully appreciate his desire for a fresh challenge at this stage in his career and wish him the best of luck with Worcestershire.”
Alex, 33, has just recorded his career-best score of 264 in the current LV=County Championship match against Leicestershire at the Bristol County Ground, taking him past 1,000 first class runs in a season for the sixth time.
He captained Gloucestershire between 2009 and 2012 and has made nearly 17,000 runs in his first class and one-day career, as well as taking 182 wickets.
Alex will release a statement at the conclusion of the Leicestershire game.
