ACE programme to host open trials at Gloucestershire’s Seat Unique Stadium
28 October 2024
The African Caribbean Engagement (ACE) programme will host open trials at the Seat Unique Stadium, the home of Gloucestershire Cricket, on Saturday 16th November.
Now in its third year of partnership with the Club and the Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation (GCF), the ACE programme has gone from strength to strength since its inception, providing a unique pathway for young, diverse cricket talent to rise through the ranks in a traditionally challenging sport to access.
The ACE programme, dedicated to developing opportunities for young players from African and Caribbean backgrounds, has seen notable success. Last season, over 15 of its scholars earned placements in representative cricket across Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Wiltshire.
Taking place on Saturday 16th November in the Bristol Cricket Centre at the Seat Unique Stadium, Nevil Road, Bristol, the open day trials will offer young cricketers the chance to showcase their skills with a view of securing a place in ACE Bristol's programme. Launched in 2020 by Surrey, the ACE programme, an independent charity, was founded to tackle a decline in involvement in English cricket from members of the black community.
