Specsavers County Championship - 13 April 2018

Venue: Canterbury

Kent v Gloucestershire

DAY 3

Gloucestershire need just 47 runs to beat Kent on the final day of the Division Two match at Canterbury.

Resuming on 110-8 on the third day, Gloucestershire lost the final two wickets without scoring to secure a first-innings lead of 56.

New recruit, Ryan Higgins (5-22) then helped dismiss Kent for 153, despite 61 from the hosts' opener Daniel Bell-Drummond.

The all-rounder signed from Middlesex, shaped the ball superbly from the Pavilion end, as he claimed his maiden five-wicket haul in first class cricket.

Joe Denly nicked Higgins to the gloves of Gareth Roderick before Darren Stevens was leg-before. Craig Miles took his solitary wicket as Will Gidman nicked behind to Roderick.

Needing 108 to win, Gloucestershire lost Chris Dent early on, before reaching the close on 61-1 with Benny Howell unbeaten on 34.

DAY 2

It was a hectic second day at Canterbury which had seen 18 wickets fall around 5 hours of play.

Kent were bowled out for just 64, with all three Gloucestershire fast bowlers dominating the Kent batsman. Matt Taylor the pick of the three with four wickets to his name, conceding only 20 runs.

Dan Worrall made bowling in English condidtions look simple on his debut for Gloucestershire, with figures of 2-20. In just three overs, Craig Miles took three scalps for just 11 runs.

No play had been possible on the first day, and Saturday's start was delayed until 13:10 while the outfield dried.

Gloucestershire found life equally tough with the bat, but Gareth Roderick's 51 helped the away side to 110-8 when bad light stopped play, a lead of 46 runs at the close of play.

DAY 1
