Royal London One Day Cup - 27 May 2018

Match Abandoned

Venue: Brightside Ground, Bristol

Gloucestershire v Sussex

Sunday's scheduled Royal London One Day Cup game against Sussex was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Umpires Neil Mallender and Tom Lungley had an initial look at the ground at 9.15 but were concerned about the rain radar showing a heavy storm which was due within half an hour.

The storm duly arrived, leaving large puddles visible on the outfield and when the umpires returned to the middle with just light drizzle falling, captains Chris Dent and Ben Brown were called from the pavilion.

The umpires told them that in their opinion the whole ground was waterlogged, and with no prospect of play they shook hands and called off the match.

As with the game last Friday against Hampshire, Gloucestershire take one point.

Their three remaining fixtures in the South Group are against Somerset at Taunton (June 1), Kent at Beckenham (June 3) and at home to Middlesex at the Brightside Ground (June 6, 2.00pm)
