Junior Academy & Emerging Player Trials

25/08/2011

Gloucestershire CCC today began their search for their players of the future.

Over 60 young players from Gloucestershire and surrounding minor Counties began trialling for the Emerging Player and Junior Academy programmes today. These emerging players have been identified by GCCC scouts and nominated by their age group managers following their performances this season. All have shown promise and will hope to be selected to join the GCCC programmes for 2011/2012.

Academy Director Owen Dawkins said: “The club has a big emphasis on its youth policy and these trials are a very important part of it. All those attending have been nominated due to the ability they have demonstrated during the cricket season and will be tested both physically and mentally during the trial process.

We have seen several GCCC Academy players progress through to the professional squad recently, not only signing professional contracts but also making a significant impact in the 1st XI. We hope to build on this and produce another talented Academy squad.”
