Gloucestershire Academy – match and England news

20/04/2011

Gloucestershire Academy player, Uzi Qureshi was recently picked for the England Development Squad. He has produced an exclusive report for this website.

"It was a really good start to the season, being picked for the England Development Squad against the Unicorns on Sunday 10th April. We played at Wormsley Cricket Ground, a great venue to play cricket. It was my first match of the season and for me it went well, I scored 57 off 70 balls and it was good to see results come through so early in the season after all the hard work I had done in the winter with the Academy.

We had posted a score of 195 which the Unicorns knocked off in 31 overs with 8 wickets to spare.

It was a really good experience in terms of working with Tim Boon and John Abraham to see what it takes to be selected in the England Under 19s squad against South Africa in July.

It would be absolutely a dream come true if they selected me for the South Africa series and I am working really hard to achieve that goal."

Gloucestershire Academy are looking forward to the weekend with two fixtures.

This will be the first Academy match of the season after the first game of the season against Dorset Minor counties was washed out just over half way through two weeks ago.

On Saturday the Academy are being hosted by Bristol Cricket Club in a 40 over game, starting at 1pm and on Sunday by Frocester Cricket club in a 45 over game starting at 11 am.
