Great start for Gloucestershire at Swansea

02/08/2012 01:24:38

Gloucestershire made the most of the 27 overs play that were possible on the opening day of the LV= County Championship Division Two game at St Helens by reducing Glamorgan to 67-6.

Rain prevented any play until 3pm and there was further disruption after that. The toss had still gone ahead before the normal start time of 11am and Glamorgan skipper Mark Wallace may well have ended up regretting his decision to bat first.

The home side were reduced to 19-4 within 14 overs as left-arm seamer David Payne and off-spinner Jack Taylor, utilised early on a pitch that is already offering encouragement to slow bowlers, took two wickets each.

Ian Saxelby and Rob Nicol also took a wicket each before the close of play.
