Gloucestershire County Cricket Club (GCCC) has teamed up with John Lewis Cribbs Causeway to put a smile on the faces of a number of local underprivileged children this Christmas. Answering a request for donations from the Bristol Evening Post, GCCC made available the money it saved by not sending paper Christmas Cards this year and happily put this towards the Bristol Evening Post’s annual Toy Appeal – which is being run alongside the Lord Mayor of Bristol’s Children’s Christmas Appeal. When John Lewis heard of our donation, they were quick to match the Club’s donation.
GCCC players Alex Gidman (Captain), Jonathan Batty and Ian Saxelby are seen here holding up a selection of the donated toys and games. They are pictured with The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of Bristol, Councillor Geoff Gollop; The Lady Mayoress, Mrs Bernice Gallop and John Lewis Cribbs Causeway representatives Cliff Vanstone - General Manager, Dominic Le Roy - PR and Marketing Co-ordinator and Alan Andrews - Community Liaison Co-ordinator.
Alex Gidman, GCCC Captain, said: “We understand that not every child is fortunate enough to wake up on Christmas morning to find a stocking full of toys. This is our way of helping to make sure we put a smile on the faces of more children in Bristol.”
Cliff Vanstone, General Manager, John Lewis Cribbs Causeway added: "The Lord Mayor's Toy Appeal spreads joy throughout the less fortunate children in the local area. Through our partnership with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club we are delighted to be able to actively support such a good cause.”
