Exciting Finale To Clydesdale Bank 40 Groups
03/09/2010
Gloucestershire supporters will be rooting for Yorkshire as well as their own Gladiators team when the group stage of the Clydesdale Bank 40 competiton reaches its conclusion on Saturday.
Only if Essex fail to beat Yorkshire at Headingley can Gloucestershire overtake them in Group B and qualify for the semi-finals as the best second placed side.
The Eagles beat Middlesex Panthers last night to leapfrog the Gladiators in the table. But if they do not win their final game and Gloucestershire beat Northants at Northampton the placings will alter again.
All the final group matches start at 12.45pm and the draw for the semi-finals will be made on Sky TV at the conclusion of the games.
Gladiators skipper Alex Gidman is looking for his side to take out the frustrations of their amazing LV=County Championship defeat by Derbyshire on Northants.
He told this website: "The best way to respond to what happened against Derby would be to produce our best against the Steelbacks.
"If we win I think we will unlucky not to make the semi-finals, but we have to rely on the result at Headingley. Our group happens to have thrown up the second and third placed teams with the most points."
