A message for today’s floodlit match

23/08/2010

The Gloucestershire Gladiators play Essex Eagles in a Clydesdale Bank 40 match under floodlights today.

The County Ground, Bristol did experience some showers earlier today but the skies have now cleared and the new ground drainage system is working well. The radar looks better for the rest of the day and we are hopeful that play will start on time at 4.40pm.

Chief Executive Tom Richardson: “These floodlit matches are really good occasions. However, today’s game is especially important. Assuming Yorkshire do not slip up then a win tonight followed by wins against Holland, home and away, would put us in a very strong position for a semi final berth, as the best second placed team in the three groups.

The result at Headingly the week before last particularly after 2 wins at Cheltenham against Yorkshire Carnegie and Middlesex Panthers was disappointing. Nevertheless, we have played some good cricket in this competition and have shown that we can beat anyone on our day.

Have a good evening and please get behind Alex Gidman and the boys.”

It is only £1 for under 16s to attend the match and adult tickets are £17 on the gate.
