A Tribute to 'Jim' Butterworth

'Jim' Butterworth died on Wednesday 9th June 2010, aged 88.  He lived in Stapleton Road and played cricket for Stapleton.  He joined GCCC before the war, and saw Wally Hammond and many pre-war stars play.  He was one of GCCC's longest serving members, attending matches regularly throughout his life.

He worked for many years as a coppersmith for George Adlam and Sons, Brewery Engineers, at Lodge Causeway.  He was also a devoted supporter of Bristol City Football Club and served on the committee of their supporters' club.

John Dimery

Many members have been greatly saddened by this sad news and we wanted to pay a belated tribute to him.

(Note; 'Jim' Butterworth should not be confused with John Butterworth of Ashgrove Road, who also recently died)
