Hot Yoga the key to a successful pre-season

Bandhra, Chakra and Drishti aren’t the typical words found on a pre-season training programme, but Gloucestershire Cricket is trying something different this winter.

The Club has joined forces with local yoga business, YogaFurie to enhance the training schedule offered to the players during pre-season.

As part of a busy training schedule, the team will visit YogaFurie once a week prior to Christmas, to take part in a one hour Hot Yoga session.

Gloucestershire batsman, George Hankins, said: “Our Strength and Conditioning Coach, Bob Smith, is encouraging us to get out of our comfort zones and give new training methods a try, such as Hot Yoga. It’s something we are all looking forward to.”

Ed Wood, owner and Yoga Instructor at YogaFurie added: “Over time, the players will see improvement in their flexibility and strength which will help in other aspects of their training.”

“They should also notice significant improvements in their breathing, due to the environment we are coaching the session in.”
