Born: Bury, Lancashire. October 1977.

Role: Right arm fast-medium, right hand batsman.

Steve started his professional career at Leicestershire before moving to Yorkshire in 2001 when his 47 wickets proved an important factor in them winning the County Championship.

A golden year in 2003 saw Steve claim 67 first class wickets, which gained him a place on an England A tour to India.

He joined Gloucestershire in 2005 and in 2009 was voted Player-of-the-Year after taking 64 first class wickets at an average of 22.18. Steve began 2008 with a call up for the England Lions trip to compete in the Duleep Trophy and followed this with further call ups for the squad in April and August. In the winter of 2009 he was named in the Lions squad to tour United Arab Emirates.
