Richard Coughtrie

12 Richard Coughtrie

Born: 1st September 1988

Role: Right-hand batsman / Wicketkeeper

Richard signed a two-year contract with the club in November 2010 and began training from January 2011.

Originally from County Durham, Richard made his first class debut for Oxford MCCU in 2009. His first season with Gloucestershire saw him establish himself as wicketkeeper in the Championship side and play a succession of gritty innings under pressure.

He played in all 16 Championship games, initially as a batsman, and was also a regular in T20 cricket. As a result he was rewarded with the Young Player-of-the-Season award.

Richard found it difficult to maintain that form in 2012 and made only seven Championship appearances. During the winter he was selected for the first time by Scotland following a change in the qualification rules and went on tour with their international squad.
