Role: Right-arm fast bowler

James signed a three-year contract with the club in August 2010 and joined Gloucestershire in time for the start of the 2011 season.

He plays for Otago in New Zealand, but signed for GCCC as an English passport holder. He has also played for the New Zealand U-19 team in 2009 and was part of the New Zealand players’ training squad in 2010.

Despite being hampered by a foot problem, James made his County Championship debut in 2011 and took 16 wickets in eight CB40 appearances, the most by a Gloucestershire bowler in that season’s competition. He also played in one T20 game.

In 2012 James took 24 Championship wickets in eight appearances and was joint leading wicket-taker in 40-over cricket with 15 victims, also averaging 34.5 with the bat in that competition.
