Jack signed a two-year development contract with the club in February 2009, which coincided with his selection for the England Under-18’s squad to visit Malaysia. His first full-time professional contract came into effect in October 2010 upon completion of his studies.

Jack had been part of Gloucestershire’s Academy Programme for since 2007. With an excellent track record for the second XI in 2008, he was given England recognition the same year when he featured alongside fellow Academy player David Payne as part of a Development side against South Africa and MCC Universities.

The 2011 season saw Jack make three Championship appearances and 12 in one-day cricket. He scored 38 and took 4-16 in a memorable T20 victory over Somerset at Bristol to earn the man-of-the-match award and finished top of Gloucestershire’s bowling averages in the competition with eight wickets at 14.75 apiece.

In 2012 Jack added three more Championship appearances, averaging 37.75 with a top score of 63, and was involved in five one-day fixtures.
