Ian Saxelby

21 Ian Saxelby

Born: May 22, 1989, Nottingham

Role: Right-arm medium-fast bowler. Right-had bat

The talented seamer had a trial with the county in 2008 before signing a three-year contract at the end of that season.

Ian represented England Under-19s and was awarded a place on the ECB scholarship programme. He travelled to South Africa with the England Performance squad in January 2010.

In 2010 he underwent surgery after successive dislocations of his right shoulder and had to miss the entire season. But he bounced back to fitness and form in 2011 by taking 49 Championship wickets and was rewarded with a new three-year contract.

The 2012 season brought 35 Championship wickets, including a best of 6-48, despite a progressive knee problem which caused him to miss the final month of the campaign.
