Role: Right-hand bat

Ian signed a two-year contract with Gloucestershire in December 2010, joining full-time training from March 2011. He had excelled during three seasons training and playing in the MCC Young Cricketers programme at Lord’s.

Prior to that Ian he played Second XI cricket for Lancashire CCC. His father, also called Ian, played 47 First Class matches for the same county in the 1980s.

Ian’s first season with Gloucestershire saw him average 27.1 in 12 Championship appearances and score his first century for the club. He was also a first team regular in 40-over cricket, averaging 34.33 and T20, averaging 25.54.

The 2012 campaign saw Ian notch 764 Championship runs at an average of 34.72 to be the club’s second top scorer behind Hamish Marshall.
