14 David Payne

Born: 15th February 1991, Poole, Dorset, England

Role: Left-arm seam bowler

David signed a two- year contract with the club starting in October 2009, having been with the GCCC Academy for two years, and signed a development contract at the start of 2009, which meant he trained with the first XI throughout that summer.

A member of the England squad for the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand in the winter of 2009/10, David proved a key member of the side.

The following domestic season saw him take 7-29, including four wickets in as many balls, in a CB40 match against Essex at Colchester, the best one-day bowling figures in Gloucestershire’s history.

David was awarded the NBC Denis Compton Award for being the club’s most promising player in 2011. He took 42 wickets in his first season of Championship cricket and added 22 more in 2012, despite playing in only half the games.
