005 Alex Gidman
Born: Buckinghamshire, 22nd June 1981
Role: Right hand batsman, right arm medium.
Alex was appointed captain of Gloucestershire for the 2009 season, having made his debut in 2001, and went on to score 1,028 first class runs in his first summer as skipper at an average of 44.69.
He spent the 2007/08 winter in New Zealand representing Otago in the State Shield and the New Zealand version of the Twenty20 competition, scoring a century against Central Districts at Dunedin and helping his club win the One Day tournament.
In the winter of 2009/10 Alex underwent surgery on an ankle and was selected to captain MCC in a match against county champions Durham in Abu Dhabi as a curtain-raiser to the 2010 season.
Alex made his debut for England A in Sri Lanka in 2004/05
