Worcestershire v Gloucestershire
29/05/2010
LV=County Championship
Division Two
Day one at New Road
Gloucestershire reached 79-3 in the 29.1 overs play that were possible on a rain-hit opening day of the match at New Road.
It was 3.15pm before play got under way and, after Alex Gidman won the toss, Gloucestershire soon lost a couple of wickets.
Steve Snell had made six when he edged a drive off Richard Jones to Daryl Mitchell at second slip.
That made it 14-1 and it became 24-2 when Chris Dent, on five, top-edged a ball from Jones and Matt Mason took the catch at long-leg.
More rain brought an early tea, but Hamish Marshall and Jonathan Batty did a good job in reviving the innings after the break.
The pair had put on 54 when Batty, who had struck nine fours in his 38, turned a delivery from Alan Richardson into the hands of Alexei Kervezee at short leg.
No further runs were added before bad light brought a premature close at 6pm, with Marshall unbeaten on 23.
Gloucestershire have made two changes for this game from the side which defeated Derbyshire. Chris Taylor has replaced Abdul-Kadeer Ali and Anthony Ireland has come in for Gemall Hussain.
